In the documented Conflex range, a flange adaptor makes the transition from a plain-ended pipe to a flanged valve, fitting or item of equipment. Its pipe-side sealing range is selected against the actual outside diameter and pipe condition. Its flange side must match the drilling and pressure requirements of the mating connection. When a dismantling joint is the better starting point

Start with the dismantling-joint range when the design places a removable component between flanges and needs controlled axial adjustment for installation or later maintenance. Supply the chamber or piping drawing, the two mating flange details, the installation gap and the restraint concept. Confirm how the tie rods will be arranged and how the system will carry thrust. If the real need is ongoing thermal or equipment movement, request an engineering review rather than assuming the dismantling joint is an expansion joint.

When a flange adaptor is the better starting point

Start with the flange-adaptor range when a plain-ended pipe must connect to a flanged valve, fitting or item of equipment. Measure the actual pipe OD at the sealing zone and identify the pipe material and condition. Then define the mating flange drilling, pressure, medium, temperature and restraint requirement. For PE or another flexible plastic pipe, include the pipe standard, wall class and support arrangement so the connection is reviewed as a system.

Can a flange adaptor replace a dismantling joint?

Can a dismantling joint connect directly to a plain-ended pipe?
