Pipe Repair Clamps for Water Pipelines

Repair localized leaks, cracks and corrosion on water pipelines.

Product overview

Select by pipe data, operating duty and installation condition

Stainless steel pipe repair clamps provide a mechanical way to seal localized water-main defects such as pinholes, circumferential or longitudinal cracks and corrosion damage. They are often selected when a damaged section is otherwise suitable for repair and a full pipe replacement is not required.

The Conflex range of water pipe repair clamps includes stainless steel band clamps, mini repair clamps, connect repair clamps and repair clamp connectors. Among water pipe leak repair products, clamp OD range and sealing length must cover the complete defect and land on sound pipe surface.

Selecting a water pipe repair clamp requires more than DN. Every pipe leak repair clamp enquiry should provide the exact OD, pipe material, defect length and width, distance from joints, surface condition, working pressure, temperature and a clear site photo. The pipeline owner must also decide whether the pipe wall is structurally suitable for repair.

Technical reference

Typical documented range

Values below summarize referenced catalogue models, not a blanket rating for every configuration. The approved drawing and quotation govern the supplied product.

Reference OD coverage
CR-1: 59–366 mm; FCE: OD42–OD1462; ranges vary by product
Reference pressure classes
PN10 and PN16 on documented repair-clamp products
Shell material
Stainless steel SS304 on documented band and connector products
Gasket material
EPDM on documented band products; NBR on selected mini clamps
Reference temperature
-10°C to +70°C on documented repair-clamp products
Selection boundary
Clamp length and OD band must fully cover the defect on sound pipe surface

Typical applications

  • Water-main leak repair
  • Localized corrosion
  • Small cracks or holes
  • Emergency maintenance

Pipe and connection context

  • Steel pipe
  • Ductile and cast iron pipe
  • Selected PVC pipe
  • Other models after technical review

Compatibility depends on the selected model, exact OD, pipe condition and confirmed operating duty.

Installation summary

Five checks before commissioning

This summary does not replace the approved model drawing, torque table, project method statement or safety procedure.

Read the installation guide
  1. 1Isolate and depressurize the line whenever the operator’s procedure requires it; verify that the pipe is structurally repairable.
  2. 2Measure the exact OD and defect, choose a clamp with adequate sealing length and clean the full gasket contact area.
  3. 3Centre the clamp over the defect and make sure the gasket is flat, unfolded and not sealing over an unsuitable overlap.
  4. 4Engage the bridge plate and fasteners correctly, then tighten nuts evenly from the centre outward in staged increments.
  5. 5Wait and re-check the specified torque where required; restore pressure under an approved procedure and inspect the repair.

RFQ checklist

Send these six inputs

If a value is unknown, send a drawing or site photo and mark it for review.

  1. 1Exact pipe outside diameter
  2. 2Defect type, dimensions and location
  3. 3Pipe material and surface condition
  4. 4Operating pressure
  5. 5Required clamp length
  6. 6Site photo and installation clearance

Frequently asked questions

Repair Clamps FAQ

Can a repair clamp be installed while the pipe is under pressure?

Some clamp designs may support controlled live-line work, but the network operator’s safety procedure, pressure, defect and selected product must explicitly permit it.

How long should a pipe repair clamp be?

The gasket must extend beyond the complete defect onto sound, clean pipe surface. Send defect dimensions and photos so the required clamp length can be reviewed.

Which pipe materials can be repaired?

Documented products cover several steel, iron and plastic-pipe conditions. Exact compatibility depends on OD, surface profile, wall integrity and the selected clamp.

Is a clamp suitable for heavily corroded pipe?

A clamp seals a localized defect; it does not restore pipe-wall strength. Widespread or severe corrosion requires an engineering decision on replacement or a different repair system.
